Gregorio is a singer-songwriter and accordionist who combines Colombian sabanero rhythms such as pasebol, paseaito and accordion cumbia, with reflections and allusions of existential literature. It’s going to be a night not to be missed!
Presenting his music passionately whether at Carnegie Hall or the streets of Tierra del Fuego. He has collaborated and shared the stage with Latin music stars such as Rubén Blades and Carlos Vives, jazz icons like Paquito D’Rivera, and masters of ancestral Colombian music such as Martina Camargo and Diego Obregón.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music, he moved to New York and released his first album as a singer-songwriter entitled, “Pluma y Vino,” which included styles like bolero, rumba, waltz, and Colombian marimba music. He went on to release his album "Cumbia Universal," in which he fused rhythms of the Colombian Caribbean such as cumbia, chandé, and porro, with big band jazz arrangements. This unique production achieved a global sound by including guest artists from Senegal, Israel, Portugal, and Argentina. In addition to hitting the Billboard Charts and reaching widespread critical acclaim, this work led Gregorio and his big band to perform sold-out shows at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, Teatro Colón in Bogota, Colombia, and Villa Victoria Performing Arts Center in Boston.
The multifaceted Colombian artist soon released several singles including, “Salomé ” a collaboration with the all-female Cuban group, Canela de Cuba where he combined his accordion with guaguancó and timba grooves of the Antillean island. Additionally, Gregorio has embarked on a side project with Argentine singer-songwriter Solange Prat in a venture they have named Sempiterno, a musical collaboration where both artists come together to create and perform co-written songs that tell stories shared and experienced by both.
Gregorio has participated as a guest artist in the Latin GRAMMY-winning album Marc Anthony for Babies, in the New York Times' Best Seller album “HOME: Where Everyone is Welcome” by Deepak Chopra and has performed alongside innovative and Latin GRAMMY-winning artists Monsieur Periné, Jorge Villamizar (Bacilos), Mariachi Flor de Toloache and famous Venezuelan cuatro player, Jorge Glem. As a result of his international acclaim, Gregorio has been named by the Colombian government as one of the "100 most successful Colombians abroad."
This talented artist has also shown his passion for music by being innovative in the field of music tourism with his project "Sounds of Colombia," an initiative with the collaboration of Impulse Travel in which international travelers get to know Colombia through their traditional music and its local musical experts.
Gregorio is currently preparing for the release of his next album in which he combines Colombian sabanero rhythms such as pasebol, paseaito and accordion cumbia, with reflections and allusions of existential literature.
