Painting and Drawing
We have a number of artists who can create painting and drawing workshops for all ages. These workshops can be built around a theme or to complement the educational curriculum. We have also developed family art workshops including parents and children.
Print Making
Make prints using Styrofoam and a variety of other materials. This workshop can last between 45 minutes to a half day and is appropriate for children, adolescents and adults..

Recycled Art
For something really unique, many of our artists offer workshops using recycled materials to create truly unique art. These workshops can last from 1 hour to 1 day and can be customized to any age from small children to adults.

Puppet Making
Create puppets, which can be used to play, tell stories or make theater with. Participants will be encouraged to give their puppets specific physical characteristics (red hair, long skinny legs, etc.) and emotions (happy, grumpy, sad). The puppets will be clothed and decorated with yarn, colorful papers, sequins and beads. |
Learning Spanish Through Art
This workshop is designed to teach Spanish through the Arts. The participants will learn how to make a book, incorporating the new Spanish words that they'll be learning throughout the workshop, using collage, drawing, painting and printmaking. This is a six week workshop of one hour long classes appropriate for ages 5 through adolescents
Cantando, Jugando
This workshop features Taller Creative Director Bernardo Palombo who composed many songs for the TV program, Sesame Street . He starts this workshop by showing a video illustrating his songs. Then, he teaches the songs to the children. This workshop is most appropriate for young children, either alone or with their parents.

Murals
Turn your space into a festival of color. The artist (depending on the size of the project it may be one or more) starts by drawing outlines on your wall with charcoal. Then the community comes and paint in the drawings for a very colorful result.
This is an ideal project to bring together a community or school and has been done with great success in a number of places. It can also be done as a school project lasting several hours to several days and is appropriate for all ages.

A Musical Journey Through South America
Learn South American geography through its instruments and music. The musicians bring instruments from different countries of South America, including the Charango, Cuatro, Bomba and Mandolin. After demonstrating the instruments to the children and showing where they come from on a map of South America, the children will sing and accompany the musicians on percussion instruments. |
Afro-Peruvian Music and Dance
The goal of this workshop is to actively involve the participants in learning the instruments, rhythms and dances of the Peruvian coast. Using guitar, cajon and cajita, participants will learn such rhythms as festejo, lando, marinera and zapateo using their hands, song and dance.
This workshop can be adapted to all ages from small children to adults and can last from 1 hour to a half day. |
Identity Frames
Using polaroid pictures, participants make frames that represent who they are using collage on cardboard/wood frame, with magazine, paint, markers, and other craft items. This workshop lasts 90 minutes to 3 hours and is appropriate for all ages from elementary school on up.

Afro-Dominican Dance
This colorful and exciting workshop for all ages will teach the diverse rhthyms existing in the Dominican Republic such as merengue, gaga, salve and more. |
Story-Telling
Best for children from 4 to 8 years old, this workshop will teach children the traditional beliefs of many peoples through stories supplemented by maps, pictures and objects from the culture.

Swishoops
In the past three years, swishoops offers a variety of professionally run, exciting programs for boys, girls and families of all ages learn basketball basics, develop skills, and learn the value of teamwork. These programs can be adapted to after-school programs, traveling camps, weekend and holiday "sports splash" clinics and weekend leagues and tournaments.

New York, Capital of Spanish
The Diversity of Spanish Language in the Americas
No other place in the world hosts more diversity in Latin culture and language than New York. For many countries, their largest population concentration outside their own capital is in New York. This workshop for adults will illustrate the diversity of the Spanish language across the Americas, using the language of music.
Participants will be introduced to the diversity of cultures and music existing in New York through watching the hour-long film, Latido Latino. A conversation between a taxi driver and his passenger set the stage for a discussion about the experiences and histories within the Latino community in New York City. Then, we will talk about how each country's indigenous languages, culture and music influence the Spanish of that country and illustrate the languages of several countries through song, encouraging participants to learn their first words of Spanish through singing along. |
Personal History Books
In this multi-session workshop over a minimum of 3 weeks, participants collect stories from family members about their family's history, any special stories, about their heritage, favorite memories or stories that they were told as a child, etc. Then, use photographs, drawings, paintings, collage,or any other visual format to illustrate stories, they will combine their stories and illustrations together to create an individual or class book of family stories. This workshop encourages students to learn interviewing and book making skills, and illustration techniques as is most appropriate for middle school children through adults.
