Mochi Parra

Born in Ovalle, Chile, singer and instrumentalist (cello, cajón, cuatro venezolano, charango) Mochi Parra is a long time member of El Taller's musical family. Mochi's work is based upon the music of the Peruvian and Chilean coast based on rhythms such as festejo, lando, marinera limeña, samacueca, tondero, and valses which incorporate instruments such as the guitar, cajón, quijada, cajita, and voice.

This year, she has taken on an additional career, becoming one of El Taller's language teachers, where she immediately became popular with the students. Mochi is also working with us to organize art, music and dance workshops. And she teaches music and dance workshops with Maestro Carlos Hayre and Luisa Valencia, introducing children and adults to the wealth and diversity of music from the Peruvian and Chilean coasts.

But Mochi's favorite volunteer activity is to be the cantinera (bartender) at Taller parties. "Sooner or later, everyone passes by the bar, and eventually, I will know the truth of "them".
